As we move into the new year we have some big changes for you! Cool Body Sculpting Center is proud to introduce semaglutide. This addition will make both weight loss, fat loss, and body contouring more accessible to all of our patients, current and considering. 

Historically CoolSculpting Elite has been most successful for those within a BMI of 30 or less, or within 30 pounds of their goal weight. Now we know at CBSC that we’ve had success with those who are beyond that, but we want to take it a step further.

Semaglutide is an FDA approved injection for fat loss. It is safe for long term use, improves the body’s ability to use insulin, and even has helped reduce the risk of stroke or heart attack by 20%.

Semaglutide mimics a hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), which regulates food intake and appetite. By alleviating the need to “eat for fun,” or “eating out of boredom,” semaglutide allows you to be more in tune with the actual needs of your body. With this injection most will not experience any jitteriness or crashing feelings that are commonly associated with fat burners. 

So I’m sure you’re wondering- what does semaglutide have to do with CoolSculpting, and more importantly- why would someone need both?

A lot of people, men especially, carry visceral fat in their body. In the abdominal area visceral fat resides behind the muscle wall and wraps around the organs and intestines. Having an excessive amount of visceral fat increases the risk of Alzheimer’s, high cholesterol, and even heart disease. This type of fat is not easily reduced by CoolSculpting Elite, which targets subcutaneous fat- the squishy fat that you can squeeze and pinch. Visceral fat can only be reduced by weaponizing the tried and true two: diet and exercise. But, in recent years, medical practitioners have discovered that using semaglutide can aid in reducing visceral fat. In some studies semaglutide has been shown to reduce 10-15% of your body weight. This is another tool that can be utilized for losing visceral fat.

By combining the results of CoolSculpting Elite and semaglutide you are able to get the best of both worlds. If you have a BMI of 30 or more, or are more than 30 pounds away from your goal weight, semaglutide can help start your body contouring journey by reducing the amount of overall weight your body is carrying. Once you are successfully within a healthy weight range we can move onto CoolSculpting. At this point we can target fat pockets that are resistant to diet and exercise.
